Marshmallows

Why hello!

A long over due post is here! I won't apologize for my absence, though. It's been busy, crazy, overwhelming, and most times, down right terrible. I don't say that for any pity, it's just how it's been lately. We are so looking forward to Spring, and all her exquisiteness. She brings promise of sun, delightful temperatures ~anything would be better than what we've been having!~, and the re-birth of life in so many forms. I. Can't. Wait.   Neither can this guy:

Today was ordinary for us. I'm fiercely trying to find bliss in the ordinary days. It's proving to be a much bigger challenge than it used to be, or I hoped it would be. But we're getting there. Slowly. We woke up and Jeff went and retrieved our son. He didn't bring him into our room like he usually does. No. He let me sleep in. Until 8! I don't believe I need to explain how amazing that is.

And then it was a day of errands after sweet cheeks woke up from his 3 hour nap. Well, 1 errand, really. Sam's Club.

I sometimes forget just how great it is there. For example, I found some delicious zebra throw pillows. Two for under $7!! It almost made my day.

When we returned home from our successful venture, we all needed a snack! I was halving some grapes for Roman, who was sitting in his chair at the table, waiting "patiently" for one of his favorite foods. He has a habit of pushing himself back from the table, slightly tipping his chair back. This time he pushed a little too far and the whole chair fell backwards with him in it. I practically sprinted over to him ~ maybe 5 feet ~, unlocked his clasps and whisked him into my arms. I held him tight as he cried. His only visible wound was a bloody tongue, and I'm sure he had a headache of some measure.

Jeff was by my side, checking him over as best he could. (It was a hard fall). A thought popped into his head and I heard him whisper to himself, 'marshmallows!' He ran to the pantry and came back with a bag of these:

This is where my bliss makes it's appearance. These mini marshmallows are our 'go-to' when Roman hits it hard. Whatever the 'it' is for that day. Jeff brought them to Roman's attention, and while still half crying, he took them. One for each hand. He sat on my lap, snuggled in, and ate from Jeff's palm. It was precious. I was soaking up every second.

Luckily we recovered, quickly. They must have been magic. We continued on with our day as usual. Back to ordinary. No afternoon nap. Jeff went to Connection Group solo due to a very, very tired little boy. I rocked my baby to sleep. We finished our taxes. Watched some Olympics. And now my bed is calling my name; but so is a grocery list. Tough decision.

What are your marshmallows?

Ki fell off a bar stool last week and wanted medicine. We were out of kids meds (I think they expired a while ago!) and he was like, "Yeah! I have medicine in my bag. In the bag Nana gave me." He meant chocolate he got as valentines. So apparently his medicine is chocolate. :)
