bugs, fishing, frogs, and worms...sick.

Jeff took Roman fishing last weekend. I think Roman may have peed his pants in excitement over the whole idea of going. It's totally fine that he peed his pants. He pees in them all the time.

Ahem.

In addition to peeing, I'm fairly certain his heart was on the verge of exploding with anticipation. You see, the boy loves, with his whole heart, the following in no particular order: fish, sharks, birds, worms and dinosaurs.
Jeff took this entire week off of work and we're planning on a Blank Park Zoo adventure. Roman's really going to flip out when he see's the moving dinosaurs there! Should be a fun trip!

We also took the boys to see the Big Bugs at Reiman Gardens last weekend (it was a packed day)! Roman was a little apprehensive at first -I would be too- but had a great time after he warmed up to them a bit. Viggo could have cared less. He just loves being outside so he chilled on my hip the whole time.
 hello, gnome.

Along similar lines, Roman loves worms. He's been obsessed with going outside and digging for them. This mama isn't so keen on getting dirty -do I suck or what. But I'm all for the boys getting all boyish and the like.
You should see our yard. It now has little patches of roughed up dirt due to digging.

And now, heres a video of what we found on our kitchen floor this week. Good morning to us.
This lady will keep her hands clean, thankyouverymuch.

bandshell

Today is Tuesday. Well it's almost over, which I am so happy about! We had a great morning and early afternoon but late afternoon/evening...eh, not so much. I'm also so happy my God's mercies are new every morning because I totally blew it today. Not my finest day as mama.

Moving on.

We had a great time at Bandshell Park today with our friends the Chappell's. Love them. Their youngest (well, outside of utero) is six months older than Roman and they have very similar personalities & they get along so wonderfully. Their oldest is a few years older than Roman, but he adores Ariana too.

So we picniced and played, and it was grand.
Roman was dancing and singing 'everybody was kung foo fighting!' It was hilarious.
We spent about two hours at the park, and you'd think that would tire some kids out, right? Not my kids. Sophia went down (with a fight, but down nonetheless), and I thought Viggo would sack out too, but he decided he didn't want to miss anything. Lately I've been having Roman not nap on Tuesday's because it's just easier than trying to get two out of the three to nap in the same room.

Today, because of lack of naps and Sophia being woken up early from hers...due to a loud, fit throwing toddler, this mama about lost her marbles. Again, thankful that tomorrow we can all start over.

'Member last week when it was, oh, 800 degrees outside? Well this is what we did.
And it was incredible. Roman loves loves loves water. His favorite things are birds and fish right now. I'm so excited to take him to the pool this summer. I'd really like to get a family pass this year and make it a four-day-a-week ritual. Who's with me?

I hope your Tuesday was better than mine!

::nifty & thrifty::

On this weeks trip to Salvation Army, I left with these goodies:

Pants that Roman will, someday, fit into. I love stripes...
 A belt for moi...
...and another stool-can't have too many of these around, can ya? This will be painted eventually, though I haven't decided what color yet.
So let's recap:
Boom.

mama's day

Hello sensational weather. It's nice to have you around again. And thank you for delighting us with your presence on the weekend!

Oh what a fabulous weekend it was! We had a wedding both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's was at the Salisbury House & Garden. Can I just say that if I could redo the location of my wedding it would, hands down, be there? So beautiful! And Sunday we were invited to celebrate the marriage of another friend of ours. I love weddings. They always make me want to get married again...to Jeff, of course!
oh yeah, I married a hottie!
So Mother's Day was spent with a quiet morning of ho-humming around, moving our tomatoes and green peppers from inside to outside, and playing with the boys outside. We grabbed a big blanket, some toys for Viggo as well as some books and parked it for a couple hours. Loved it.
question: have you seen a more delicious baby? answer: no.
now, before you go and feel all bad for Viggo, Roman was only giving him a hug. I think it's safe to say V's love language won't be touch.

Playing with chickens...
Lovin' on pups...
After the wedding we headed over to my mom's and to my MIL's to give them their cards and say hello. It was a great day! I am so blessed to be considered trustworthy enough by God to be given these precious little boys. Oh how my heart bursts with love for them. I love being their mama!

niner niner

'member this?
Yeah, he's this now
Hard to believe that was nine months ago. I know it's like a broken record, kind of an unwritten law-ish, but does time really need to be all rushy rushy and fly by?

Here's a quick run down of what's happenin'.

Fact: waving is the coolest thing. ever. but it has to be a proper, Royal style. He.Loves.It.
Fact: He's the happiest baby. We always get comments on how good natured he is. True story.
Fact: (is this gonna get old?) He's learned to pull himself up from a belly crawl. Not only to his knees, but then proceeds to stand if what he's grasping onto is sturdy enough to hold his weight...we'll get to that in a minute. Still not crawling on all fours and not sure he ever will.
Fact: He's slightly dramatic. Sometimes, if Roman looks at him a certain way or messes with him just a little he get's all whiny and 'don't do that to me' ish. Funny and ridiculous.
Fact: He loves the bath and electrical outlets and light switches.
Fact: Makes the kissing sound 'mmmmaaahhh' and kisses. They are delicious kisses, I might add. Also makes the 'nah nah nah', 'da da da', 'ma ma' (I'm gonna go ahead a say he's saying mama....).  He can sign 'nurse/milk' and gets a huge grin on his face when I ask him if he'd like to. It's awesome he knows what it means.
 Fact: Is squishy
Fiction: sleeps all night long
Fact: still nursing mostly, but doing at least one to two baby food meals a day. He's also enjoyed pinto beans, coucous, banana, & graham crackers. I'm using a combo of baby led weaning and purees. It's going great! And if you were wondering, we haven't seen any signs of serious food allergies with Viggo yet, although we've avoided eggs and dairy and obviously peanut anything. And I've been avoiding those in my diet as well.
Fact: Viggo weighs 26 pounds and I can squeeze him into 12 month, but mostly he prefers 18 month clothing. :) I'm glad nice weather has arrived so we can just be simple and just wear a onesie.
Fact: is the spitting image of his mama as a baby.
Fact: loves music
He is such a delight. I cannot imagine our lives without this sweet little boy. Oh how I love him! Here's a little video for your viewing pleasure. Take note, the wave at the end is not his more common Royal wave. That was his wave before he discovered how awesome it was to delicately twist his wrist back and forth.
You might want to turn down the music on my page before you hit play. :)

i made that {freezer paper stenciling}

Woo! Here is another series I'm starting. This will be a way for me to keep track of everything I've made, and get to share it with you all in the process! I hope you enjoy reading about it as much as I enjoyed making it.

To kick things off, in March I began to search crafty blogs for some inspiration. I found several. Let me tell you. There are tons of talented people out there! I wanted to start off with something I surely couldn't screw up...

Enter: freezer paper stenciling and fabric dyeing. I found the tutorial for dyeing the fabric here, and followed this one for freezer paper stenciling. SO.FUN.
I found this image on my brother-in-law's Facebook page. They had their third baby in December and named him Oliver. I thought it would be adorable on a onesie!
I didn't dye this shirt. A friend gave it to me. And I saw the idea for the image somewhere on this blog, I think. I laughed out loud when I saw it and new I needed to make it for Roman. Because though he cannot eat butter, he is smooth like buttah. :)
