s.o.s.

There is a problem in the Barton home. You see, we....
...are not getting much sleep, especially at night. His naps are quite short too. I can't figure out why! Viggo was sleeping through the night (on his own accord) probably by three months. I thought I was golden. And then a little thing called dry air got him all stuffy and he hasn't slept all night since. (Yes, we do run a humidifier.)

So now here's what our schedule looks like: he eats his dinner around 6 and I try to have him in bed for the night between 6:30 and 7pm. After a couple hours of slumber he awakens and appears to be in some kind of gassy pain and wont fall back asleep without nursing. A couple hours later...same thing. And on and on and on. I'm not eating dairy or peanut & limiting my egg intake. This last week I cut out caffeine to see if that would make a difference, but it didn't. I give him gripe water often too and that seems to work temporarily. I don't know what else to do, and I can't figure out if it's something I'm eating still (wheat mostly...) or if he's just in a bad habit and I have to break him of it...which would totally stink...as I'm not a huge fan of letting my babies fuss for long periods of time.

Anyway. Advice...go!

christmas recap

This Christmas was...weird. Along with the lack of 'feeling it,' Jeff got a 24 hour flu. He started his every two hour trip to the bathroom Christmas Eve and was completely bed-ridden Christmas day. I missed having my man with me on such an important day. He missed seeing Roman open his presents and stocking. So in a sense, it was a bust.

In another sense, the you-pretty-much-got-everything-you-asked-for sense....win! Roman really understood the opening presents part and it was a.dor.a.ble. Hearing him say in his tiny little voice 'open pesents!?' (no, I didn't mis-spell presents, he doesn't say the 'r'), was heart warming...just kidding...it totally melted my heart. The magic in his eyes...sigh.

We were too busy though. Next year we start our own traditions. Sorry Grandma Sarah, chances of us Bartons heading your way next year are slim.

Anyway.

The kick off started at my Aunt Carrie's on Dec. 11th. We ended up staying the night because, if you remember, we had our first blizzard of the season and we were not going to try to make it home. We learned -the hard way- that we can never take our boys anywhere overnight until they're older. Much much older.

Then it was Christmas Eve at Grandma Sarah's in Ankeny.
Woot! Christmas day finally arrives!
After opening presents at home, the boys and I headed over to Mimi's for brunch and MORE presents. :)
And the hullabaloo ended with opening gifts at Papa's on Sunday
It was a successful Christmas overall!
