on the night you were born

On the night you were born,
the moon smiled with such wonder
that the stars peeked in to see you
and the night wind whispered,
"Life will never be the same."
Because there had never been anyone like you...
ever in the world.

So enchanted with you were the wind and the rain
that they whispered the sound of your wonderful name.
The sound of your name is a magical one.
Let's say it out loud before we go on.

It sailed through the farmland
high on the breeze...

Over the ocean...

And through the trees...

Until everyone heard it
and everyone knew
of the one and only ever you.

Not once had there been such eyes,
such a nose,
such silly, wiggly, wonderful toes
In fact, I think I'll count to three
so you can wiggle your toes for me.

When the polar bears heard,
they danced until dawn.

From far away places,
the geese few home.

The moon stayed up until
morning next day.

And none of the ladybugs flew away.

So whenever you doubt just how special you are
and you wonder who loves you, how much and how far,
listen for geese honking high in th sky.
(They're singing a song to remember you by.)

Or notice the bears asleep at the zoo.
(It's because they've been dancing all night for you!)

Or drift off to sleep to the sound of the wind.
(Listen closely...it's whispering your name again!)

If the moon stays up until morning one day,
or a ladybug lands and decides to stay,
or a little bird sits at your window awhile,
it's because they're all hoping to see you smile...

For never before in story or rhyme
(not even once upon a time)
has the world ever known a you, my friend,
and it never will, not ever again.

Heaven blew every trumpet
and played every horn
on the wonderful, marvelous
night you were born.
My baby's two...more on his big day tomorrow!

25 and still alive

Well, I made it to 25. Woot! I was looking back at the last five years, slightly impressed with where God has me now. Married for four and a half years with TWO babies? Not many ladies can say that. I am exactly where I wanted to be. It's been a crazy five years, but I wouldn't trade if for anything.

Anyway.

I woke up Monday morning to go get Roman. There was a giant sign on his door that read '25! So old, so loved. Happy birthday, beautiful! Love, Jeff'

Jeff came home from work with cupcakes, donuts, and my beautiful necklace. Click here for your custom necklace.
We spent the whole day together just lounging around with the boys. It was fantastic. And later in the evening we went to The Cafe for dinner. Now, normally I don't choose this place to dine because each time I have been somewhat disappointed with my food....maybe it's just too fancy for this girl...but we heard that their spaghetti and meatballs and their new hot dog were amazing, so Jeff got the dog, and I chose the pasta. All I can say, and I speak for both of us in this is, meh. Neither were amazing, and in fact I've decided the only yummy pasta out there as far as noodle goes, is Quinoa. It's just better.

I'd love to give you a wordy, adjective-filled post on how loved I felt, how blessed I am, how much I love my husband and children and new necklace that screams how proud I am to be a wife and mama, but my brain is too tired and I don't want to. Just rest assured this twenty-fifth year is going to be a great one.

little of this, little of that

It's flippin' freezing out there today. The wind is thrashing, the air is spitting, and it is gray. Coffee is brewing, there is talk of warming ourselves by a fire tonight...indoors of course, and I have nothing planned but movies for my littles. Maybe some game playing will happen, but mostly, I want to veg out. In my jammies. With my babies. And do...nothing. It's a perfect day for nothing.

This morning my mom and I took the boys up to Ellsworth to pick up a chair I bought at a consignment store about a month ago.
The plan is to reupholster it. Wish me luck, 'cause I'm gonna attempt to do it myself, with my mom, and we're going to need it.

My craft list is getting very long. I have a lot of fabric piling up and should probably get to it. I'm going to be making a book sling, leg warmers for V, and a blanket. I also want to look into learning to crochet. Can't wait to get started. Now if only the boys would nap at the same time, all the time, so I could attempt all this craftiness.

In other news, a couple weeks ago we had Danny Vasquez take our photos...again. There is no other photographer I will EVER use. And this is why.
(I love how you can see the glop of drool between the skull and crossbones on his outfit...he is amazingly drooly!)

Swoon.

On a random note, I am so thankful that I've been blessed with a high metabolism. I know that sounds weird, but I can't stop eating Nutella. It's all I've been eating, really. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack. I think I'm a little behind on this discovery, and shame on you who have known the pure blissfulness of this food and have never opened my world to it. And at 200 calories a tablespoon with the way I eat it...lets just say that's a lot of calories I'm poundin' in. But whatev. Love it. And if you're reading this and haven't tried it, march your butt to the store and get yourself a little piece of heaven.

The next couple of weeks are gonna get crazy. I've been planning a very pirate-y birthday party for a boy that's now really into Toy Story 3...well, he was once into pirates. More on that later.

For now, I'm peacin' out. A book and another cup of decaf are calling my name.

three months (a little late)

Viggo, you are a rock star at holding you're sweet little oval head up.
You have an incredibly edible smile, some plump-a-licious cheeks, the most beautiful dark blue eyes, and an extra chin that jiggles when we're going for a car ride.
You are so ticklish on you ribs and legs, back and neck...pretty much everywhere. Your sweet little laugh cracks me up.

You are amazingly drooly! I had to buy you some bibs to keep your clothes dry. This is a new venture for us because compared to you, Roman had dry mouth. Lately your chin has been extra dry so we have to make sure we have lotion on us all the time.

You are getting better at napping during the day, however you still only snooze for about an hour each time. So you have a lot of short naps throughout the day. I'll take your short naps, though, because you taught yourself to sleep through the night. I am so thankful for this because with everything else going on right now, it is a major blessing to get a solid eight hours of sleep. Plus I can enjoy some wine in the evenings if I want to.
Viggo, you are such a happy baby. You have taken some good pokes and smothering from your big brother. He loves you so.  Every morning when I go get Roman from his room he asks where Dada is and where you are. We often catch Roman saying he loves you.
You are a stinker though. You don't allow me to leave you with anyone after 5pm. You scream and scream and scream until I take you. Nor do you take a pacifier. This was rough on me at first, but you have since found your fist and fingers and while you haven't started sucking your thumb to soothe yourself, it seems to help anyway. You prefer all things flesh...no plastic or silicone crap for you.
I think you are going to do things sooner than later. You like to sit up vs. lean back and when you're on your tummy or hanging on the bobby you push you feet and end up like this
You are such a joy! Love you, my little V.
